Hillary Rodham Clinton: Dreams Taking Flight, Illustrated by Amy June Bates
“HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON: DREAMS TAKING FLIGHT is an exciting and inspiring book that I hope to see popping up in libraries and classrooms everywhere so that all of our young people come to know and understand the tenacity of this brilliant, barrier-breaking, American hero.”
--Richie Partington, Richie's Picks: Great Books for Children and Young Adults
Featured in NewsweekFrom the author: Women's history is one of my passions. This book follows directly from one of my earlier books-- A Woman for President: The Story of Victoria Woodhull (2004). Woodhull was the first woman to run for president, Clinton the one who has gotten the farthest, with 28 other strong women in between. May I live long enough to see a woman in the White House, and perhaps write books on some of those other women.

Book of Rock Stars

Publisher's Weekly
Krull (Songs of Praise) presents a personal and affectionate paean to 21 male and three female rock legends, whom she labels "bright icons who changed the old ways and brought in the new." A spread is devoted to each of the stars (save the Beatles, who get two), introduced chronologically by birth year-from Elvis to Kurt Cobain. Krull selects some telling details (one of which recurs: Elvis wanted a bicycle for his 10th birthday, and his parents "got him a cheap guitar instead," while Cobain's uncle offered him a choice of a guitar or a bicycle for his 14th birthday, and the teen "took the cheap, secondhand guitar"). Each capsule chronicle of the musician's career faces one of Alcorn's (Let It Shine) full-page, polychrome relief-block print portraits. The author's informal narrative provides some insight into the performers' inspirations, onstage antics and professional milestones….A concluding list of further reading suggestions, Web sites and landmark recordings may inspire fans to do more research.

WISH YOU WERE HERE: EMILY’S GUIDE TO THE 50 STATES
Published by Doubleday, 1997, Illustrated by Amy Schwartz
During the wildest summer of her life so far, Emily and her grandmother visit each and every one of the 50 states. They fly to see the highest place in North America--4 miles up Mount McKinley in Alaska--and drive through the desert to the lowest (and hottest), in Death Valley. Emily describes the breathtaking sights, scrumptious food, funny stories, and fascinating history that make each state unique. She describes many customs brought here from other countries and the contributions of American Indians. In Emily's entries and in tables at the back of the book, there are plenty of incredible facts, important dates in history, and stories of famous people. Packed with information and amusement, this is a delightful introduction to the U.S.A.The “Family Channel” Seal of Quality
